You only need to fill in gateway information if you want your NASLite machine to be able to talk to machines on a different network. If your 3 clients and the naslite machine are on the same network you don't need to configure the gateway info on NASLite.

NASLite knows how to reach clients on it's network, but to reach other networks it needs to know how to get to the other network. Using a gateway allows it to reach other networks.

Note that if you use your ADSL router as the gateway, that anyone on the internet could gain access to your NASLite box.

There is no way for anyone on the internet to gain access to the NASLite box, simply because the ADSL router's ip address is configured as the gateway.

The gateway setting, as you pointed out, tells NASLite who to talk to machiones on other networks - you would also have to create forwarding rules on the ADSL router to direct the incoming traffic to the NASLite server - without these rules, the router will simply discard the incoming traffic.

Thanks for reply.
I have configured my lan in this mode:

Router ADSL with internal switch
Router Gateway is 192.168.1.125 and of course the same gateway is configured on 3 windows client.
PC1 Client with Windows XP IP 192.168.1.1 on port 1
PC2 Client with Windows XP IP 192.168.1.2 on port 2
PC NASLITE IP 192.168.1.4 on port 3
PC3 Client mobile with Windows XP IP 192.168.1.3 on Wireless card

I don't have any problem to access to naslite from 3 pc but I have the problem with web interface http://192.168.1.4 that is very very slow.
When switch on the nasbox the web interface is fast but after 10 minutes the web interface is very slow and the picture on the web are disable.

There is a solution for this problem.

Try a different NIC in the NAS box. A 3Com, Intel, or Dlink all work great.

Today I add more memory to my naslite machine, now I have 512 mb 400 mhz and I add a dlink pci lan and disable the internal lan of my MB.
The web interface is always slow but I found the problem.
The problem is my Karspensky antivirus, when shutdown the program the web interface is normal fast.
What is the problem?
There is a solution?
Thanks a lot for help.
