I am new to NASLite, just purchased tonight, running on:

Abit BE6 Rev 2 mobo
Pentium II 233 CPU
384MB RAM
Floppy
CD-R
Lexar JumpDrive 64

Made a kicker disk from NasLite CD-R and installed USB drive as superfloppy from NasLite CD-R - also tried as bootable partition.

In all cases I tried, I get to where LINLD goes to boot the kernel - everything goes fine before this (USB drive found etc) - and get the following:

Uncompressing NASLite Kernel...
OK, booting the kernel.
Uncompressing NASLite Kernel...

Out of memory

-- System halted

I tried doing what the guy in this thread did and did not have any luck - had to change a few lines in his stuff as some of the switches were not recognized.

Tried several different kicker disks as well.

Can someone please give me a hint in the right direction - did several forum searches as well as Google / Google Groups and thus far have not turned up anything other than the post above that seems related.

TIA

John

I'm still having the same problem. I've tried different memory from a known working machine, less memory, swapped out the hard drive I had in there with a brand new 250GB WD. I tried differnt USB drives including a 512MB. I've tried it with the CD drive attached and without. I turned off all power saving on the MB, and everything else that wasnt needed. I'm out of ideas.

I dont understand why I am getting this out of memory, I have see other people on this board run it with as few as 64MB. Can anyone help?

The out of memory problem is an indication of low RAM, bad RAM, incompatible RAM for the board in use or a misconfigured or bad board.

Have you tried a known-working machine? Generally, NASLite-2 USB requires a bit more than 64MB to boot with a kicker, so 384M is fine.

My guess is that the RAM is bad ir incompattible for the board you are using.

Hi, I had the same problem, added more memory - didn't solve the problem - I found out that the copy from the cd wasn't done right - some of the files was 0 kb! then I did the cd to usb copy on another machine and it works like a charm... :D
