Strange coincidence? Just updated to v2.02 ... all went fine. Almost immediately I saw a noticable slow down in internet browsing, but not LAN browsing (Windows Explorer). I shutdown the two NASLite servers and Internet browsing went back to "normal" (high speed cable). I restarted the two servers and had the same slowdown ... well, I've done this shutdown / startup up routine 5 times with the same results. Would someone else mind checking this when you upgrade to v2.02 ... thanks.

I just upgraded and I am not experiencing any slowdown.

Mind you, my NASLite server isn't doing anything. I just got it up and running and I intend to use it as a backup device.

Are you noticing lots of traffic on your hub/switch with no browser windows open?

There indeed is activity on my two gigabit switches with the servers on. Also page loading (Internet Explorer) is noticiably (annoyingly) slower with the servers on ... once they are off the page loading is back to instant.

Hi,

I just have the new 2.02 up and working perfect, no irragular traffic and slowdowns (I can see the switch-led`s).
Did you enable rsync?

rollo: To my surprise RSYNC was set to "RO" after the upgrade, I just disabled it. But, Internet page loading and surfing is still impacted until I shut the servers down. I will retreat to v2.01 tomorrow to see if the slowdown is still there. Thanks for your response.

FYI, I had disabled all services except HTTP, Telnet and SMB.

I reenabled them as an experiment but I still didn't get any unusual activity on my hub and my browsing is quick.

Maybe it's just me. I had to shut the servers down just to post this reply. The delay between pages was excessive. Regarding Internet page loading delay; using v1.5 the Internet is fine, same with v2.01 ... but for whatever reason when I launch v2.02 I experience page loading delays. Shut down the servers and it immediately goes away. So my question is; is there anything in v2.02 that can affect the Internet in this manner, or do I just have another quirky situation like my drives that can't report SMART even though they can?
Thanks.

What you are describing can be caused only by misconfigured NIC on the NASLite machine.

Tony (et al) thanks for the responses. I swapped the Netgear GA311 cards from both NASLite v2.02 servers with two GA311's in two desktops. That appears to have fixed the Internet browsing slowdown. The desktops with the server's cards are working fine. I can't imagine how anything became "mis-configured" (since I can't configure the NIC in NASLite), or why it worked fine in v2.01. But - it is fixed. Some things may just have to remain a mystery. I appreciate the help from all.
