I know this sounds like a stupid question, but somehow I'm under the impression that it might be true. I'm asking b/c I wasn't aware most RAID cards were 64 bit PCI when I bought my mobo. Thanks -Raia

And no.

It depends on the voltage compliance of the PCI-X card you are installing. They are keyed and some will work in any slot while others will only work in certain types. Look at the keying of the card, there will be little slots cut between fingers of the connector on the card.

Superboss is right for the most part in that most cards will drop back to the earlier interface standard. Look at the pic in the like he provided and notice that the card has a pair of slots cut into it on the main 32bit PCI blade. This kink of card will (should) work in any 32bit PCI slot.

My FC-AL eXtreamRIAD 5000 card is an example of a card that will not.

Mike is absolutely right, I forgot about the voltage difference. Thanks for pointing it out :)

No problem, I figure that between the two of us we may have a brain and catch most things. :D
