At the admin console that you get to via the web browser, select the unlock NASLite button at the bottom left. Write down the 5 digit code, then enter it at the admin console that you telnet into via the button below the key link. Save the code and reboot the NAS box.

Then RTFM if this works. :D If not then post what you are doing EXACTLY so all can try and help.

I can get to the unlock code screen on the NAS Box. Then I go to my other networked computer with internet access. I open my browser and type in http://192.168.1.5/status/htm/unlock.htm just like the nas box is telling me to.

The Nas Box's IP is 192.168.1.5

After I type it in and hit enter, all that comes up is Website cannot be found. This is where I am stuck. I've tried 50 times. Please, if there is someone out there that can help, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

In your browser, type in the IP of the NL box. You will get the status page.
7th icon is a padlock. Click on that and you will get the unlock code you require.

Per the nas box, try http://192.168.1.5/Status/htm/unlock.htm

I've done what you guys have told me. It seems that this should be a simple task. Very frustrated with this. Is there any special settings I need to make with the NAS box to accept incoming? Tried Mozilla and IE. Tried switching my lan card, tried using new cable. I'm using a linksys VOIP router. If I can ever get this unlocked I'd like to use my netgear gigaswitch too. I took it out of the loop to eliminate possible conflicts. THis is driving me crazy. I know it is probably something simple that is being overlooked. I disabled all Firewalls Etc. Tried pinging host computer from Nas box, won't ping it (maybe this will help. EVerything is good at start up except the code. Thanks for trying to help guys. :(

Ok I may be well off the mark here but can you actually browse to your NL box from your main PC? i.e. what do you get on your main PC if you type 192.168.1.5 in the address bar? Do you get the NL status page?

Assuming you don't then I'm thinking that maybe your main PC isn't on a 192.168.1.x IP?

Let's get this one answered first to make sure you can 'see' your NL box.

"I can get to the unlock code screen on the NAS Box. Then I go to my other networked computer with internet access. I open my browser and type in http://192.168.1.5/status/htm/unlock.htm just like the nas box is telling me to."

You can see it and get the unlock code.

DO THIS EXACTLY!

Goto the start menu and select run.

Type in command and hit enter.

At the command line type "telnet 192.168.1.5" DO NOT USE QUOTES.

Login, the user name is admin and the password if you didn't change it is nas. This is all lower case.

From the menu select "U" to enter the unlock code and type in the code you have from the web page.

After it is accepted chose "9" to save the configuration.

Now select "7" to reboot.

After the box reboots it should work and be unlocked.

I don't think I can be any more verbose that that. It is really quite a simple process. If this doesn't work them I might say you need something like a snap server. Also make sure that the NAS box is turned on.

This indicates that you have a network related problem - since you cannot ping you have no communication between the boxes. You need to resolve this as the first step.

Possible reasons are -

1) host computer related - unlikely since you state that this has internet access AND the firewall has been disabled.

2) network related.

2.1) Check your network hardware - hubs/switches/cables
2.2) Check your ip address schema
2.3) Try reducing your network to the bare minimum - hub, two cables, two systems or two systems with a cross-over cable if you have one.

3) NAS system related - I'll leave this to the folks with more experience than I.

Try typing ipconfig at the command line, whate IP address and netmask does it return. They both have to be on the same IP block and have the same Netmask to work and see each other.

IE your computer has to have an IP of say 192.168.1.xxx and a netmask of 255.255.255.0 the IP adresses can't be 192.168.1.0 192.168.1.5 or 192.168.1.255.

I had the same problem as you until I entered in the unlock code. I couldn't even ping the thing.

Main computer IP is 192.168.15.103

Net Mask is 255.255.255.0

NAS Box IP is 198.162.1.5

Net Mask255.255.255.0

Hopefully this helps

I'll try answer most of the post I've gotten trying to help. Thanks again for everyone hangin in there with my problem.

I've tried going to command and using the telnet, but still won't go to the unlock screen. Tried using a different router, still won't work.

When i type the IP into Explorer it says "page cannot be displayed" just like when you type in an invalid website.

Reconfigure your NASLite box to an IP address of 192.168.15.5. Leave the same netmask there. Save the configuration and reboot.

This should do it.
