I'am now using Freenas and must say its a great application, but nfs i dont get it to work and yes samba is a little bit slow.

My disk is now UFS but its full of music / photos and videos and don't want to lose it.

Freenas is installed on his own HD so naslite can also installed on it, but does Naslite-2 see the other HD with all my stuff on it ? So i dont have to format it.

THx

Greetings,
Andy

I believe NL2.0 only uses EXT2 and EXT3. I don't think it will mount a UFS partition. Why not just copy your files over to your main machine or an external storage box and then install NL and be done with FreeNAS. Trust me when I say that you will like it a hell of alot more than FreeNAS. It is faster, configures easier and is far more stable and tunned for performance.

Get yourself a copy of naslite Andy. Using freenas with your files is asking for trouble.

Freenas is installed on the HDD, but can Naslite-2 also do that ?

An HDD version of NASLite-2 has been promised, you can find references to it in the documentation.

NASLite exports the files via SMB, NFS, FTP, and HTTP all at the same time and does this without issue. Admin is GUI based after initial setup and it just works and works and works........ You're wasting your time with FreeNAS.

Presently NL is available only in the USB and CDROM versions, the HDD is comming soon. How soon? Ask Ralph and Tony, they are the guys behind NL and are not even hinting. I hope it's soon.

I tried FreeNAS before going to NL. Found FreeNAS just wouldn't give me a stable network setup whereas NL ticks along perfectly.
