How do I set the time so it is correct in my time zone. I set NASlite-2 to GMT as it asks, but then my files have the wrong time and date( in the evening). Why can't I just set it to EST.

Technically you can. Just set the time to your local time. Naslite however does not support localisation so you cant really specify offsets based on your time zone.
