I have purchased and downloaded the ISO file for NasLite 2 CDD, and cannot create the Bootable CD.

I am using the Burn Image function in Nero Version 6.6.0.12

I am currently runnung Version 1.1 and have recreated the Boot CD using that ISO without a problem and that boots OK.
ISO File : SEI-NL1-PLUS.iso

With the Version 2 disk installed I get a message to say I have a bootable CD installed, but Naslite does not boot. ISO File : SEI-NL2-CDD.iso

Anybody have any clues what I am doing wrong?

All help gratefully accepted.

Did you burn using Disk at once method?

No. Nero was set to Track-at-Once.

I tried changing that, but still no luck.

When I use version 1.1 I get the following Messages.

Boot Section found on ROM
0.DEFAULT.ENTRY
BIOS Successfully loaded.
Bootable Section Found on CDROM
Your CDROM is used as DRIVE A
The original drive A has become drive B
The PC Beeps and then NASLITE loads.

Version 2
Boot Section found on ROM
0.DEFAULT.ENTRY
BIOS Successfully loaded.
The PC Beeps and nothing else happens.

The CDROM COntents are as follows

CDROM

|-DOC
| |- GPL
| |- NL2MAN
| |- NL2REF
| |-OFFER
|
|-ISOLINUX
| |-BOOT
| |-ISOLINUX.BIN
| |-ISOLINUX.CFG

I downloaded the ISO and just double clicked it. Put a CD-R in the drive and clicked burn. It worked fast and easy. My NASLite-2 is up and running now. The new info. things it has is very nice!

Here this should tell you if you have a good download.

Go to http://digestit.kennethballard.com/download.html I guess there is some other MD5 check out there. I know it's built in Linux with the command "md5sum" then the file name. Some Linux all so have "sha1sum"

But I am sure you have windows and this link will download one for that and then you just have to right click on the file name and tell it to make a number out of the file for you. It's add's all the bytes up so each file will have a number of it's own.

Fom my "SEI-NL2-CDD.iso" the MD5 gives this:

Quote:
8f246ad4b50e01029e7e3258d67d7f03 SEI-NL2-CDD.iso

I know my download worked.

I found on Linux you can use "wget" Then the download link. It seems to download better then windows.

The SHA-1 that I think is the same as the Linux sha1sum gives is this:

Quote:
0a77a17f2f010fe9c62315fa6dd920dfa6d900c4 SEI-NL2-CDD.iso

Might try Imgburn http://www.imgburn.com

Its free, not sure if scsi would be a problem but I don't think so.

again like it was said file might be bad and a checksum would show that.

OK. The saga goes on.

Checksum is OK.

Tried imgburn, same problem.

I think I have an idea what is wrong though. Just need to know how to fix it.

When my Version 1.x boots up I get a message to say that the SCSI CDROM has been changed to the A Drive and my floppy changed to the B drive.

This doesn't happen in Version 2, having booted off the SCSI CDROM initially, the PC then tries the a then the c drive, as is set in the bios. I have an old bios that doesn't support IDE cdrom boot.

Unless I can find out how to get it to change the SCSI CDROM to A:\ then I am stuck. :(

what scsi card/adapter are you using on the cdrom?

motherboard etc..

But from what you have so far sounds like something changed in naslite bootstrap.

I'm running an older adaptec 2940 on mine so far ok

It is an Adaptec AIC7850. Not sure on the motherboard. Best I have is Phoenix tecnologies
200Mhz Pentium
BIOS date 11/28/96

If it is the NASLite Bootstrap causing the problem, will I be able to get a fix?

Version one says "Bootable Section Found on CDROM" and version two doe not. have you considered that the CD Rom drive might not be able to read the disk?

V1 uses syslinux while v2 uses isolinux.

OK that explains why V1 boots fine but I keep getting an error when trying to boot V2. Any ideas as to what may be causing boot errors on V2. I'll try to lookup the error and post it latter if someone else does not post it.
