The old Gigabyte mobo I have has USB but I don't have the 4 pin header connector to get it connected (I have 2 5 pin connectors!!)
If I fit a PCI USB card, is V2 going to recognise it?

The Nas software should see the pci card, but as your MB does not boot from USB you will need to use a Kicker disk, you can try the original kicker if this does not work then you should try the iomega kicker.

You may be able to use the header you have - see my response to your post in the other forum for details.

BTW - this is why you shouldn't "crosspost" - post the same thing to more than one forum - many of us do go through all the forums and will find your post and respond to it. When you have multiple posts for the same question, you end up with multiple answers in different places. making it more difficult to keep track of.

Apologies for the crosspost, I missed seeing the V2 USB forum as I was already in the NASlite+ one.

I can confirm that this works using the kicker disk on an old Dell.

Got it all fitted yesterday and bought a pen drive. All working fine now. Just need a PCI IDE card to get back the 35Gb due to the LBA48 problem.
