It seems like there's lots of cards by this name. I bought an Intel D945GTPLKR motherboard (over a year old) thinking that the onboard Gigabit controller would work, but it does not seem to be recognized by NASLite 2 USB. It fails to find the network adapter during boot and turns itself off.

I can see there are Linux drivers on Intel's website for this board/controller. Is there a way to patch them into the NASLite2 OS?

I'd like to avoid buying more hardware, if possible. Is this controller going to be supported in the next revision? (Controller is Intel 82573E).

Thanks,
James

Too bad that this NIC (Intel Pro/1000 PM) is not supported.
I have 3 pieces of this motherboard, and I would definitely buy NASLite if this NIC worked. I dont think it's that hard to get it working under Linux, because I got it working under DOS!

The Intel Pro/1000 is supported ( I am speaking from practical experience, not by looking at the Hardware Reference manual ). But as jamesutz hints at ... there seems to be a variety of "controller" implementations. I am no expert on this, but I thought I would report that I have several Supermicro boards that work perfectly fine, and looking at their manuals they all use the "Intel Pro/1000" designation, and upon further inspection list two different "controllers": Intel 82541 and 82547GI.

So ... check out what controller is being used (the same board manufacturer may use different versions even on the same product over a period of production) and report back which ones you have/have-not had success with.

jamesutz should confirm that his controller (hardware ) works under another O/S first (Knoppix, Windows, etc). If yes, then the 82573E won't work in NASLite, and unfortunately the drivers can not be "patched" or "merged" by the user. Only Serverelements can do that.

Hope this helps.

:) Georg

This motherboard (Intel D945GTP) is using Intel 82573E/82573V/82574V Gigabit Ethernet Controller. One of my friends tested it with NasLite2, and it did not recognize it.
