Hi,
Having suffered some harddrive failures in the past, I have ActiveSMART running on all my Windows XP Machines to monitor the SMART state of the HDDs. And when there are changes, I get an e-mail or a network message.
It would be great, if this type of notification could be included in NASLite as well. My servers are not in the office, so I can't hear the beeps that are currently the way of notification.

Checking only for changes is a bit extreme in most cases, however if you consider that a requirement, then the best approach is to use a client-side app to look for patterns in the status pages periodically.

In order to allow NASLite to email, there is a fair ammount of supporting content that will have to be added.

Not a bad idea however. Ralph and I will discuss a possible solution...

Thanks for the tips and thanks for considering this!
If e-mail support is installed, I could also see other status messages being useful, such as when disks reach a certain capacity limit for example.

Yes, this would be most useful ! I am working on using one NAS Lite server as an off site (sitting at a friend's house) back up machine that would rsync over a VPN tunnel.

Email notification would allow me to "manage" that box even though it is sitting somewhere else.
