I am planning on setting up a raid5 server using 12x750gb sata drives. will naslite-2 support such a large array?

also, to save upfront cost, I was thinking of starting the array smaller and adding drives as I need them and get extra funds. can this be done without having to backup the data and rebuilding the array each time I add drives?

hope this made sence as I am half asleep while typing it out.

Thanks in advance.

That will depend on your raid controller. Some controllers can expand an array but from what I have seen most can not.

The next question is if the controller can expand the array then what will NASLite make of the change.

looking at a 3ware 9500s-12 for the card. their website says it supports expanding, just not sure if naslite will do it... biggest question is if naslite will support large arrays in the 8-9 TerraByte range, if not will probably just hook them up as independant drives for now.

I think right now there is a bug preventing the formatting of an array that is larger than 1.0 TB.
