The data on the drives is safe and will not be damaged or lost as long as you don't tamper with it. The reason for the problem you are seeing is a bug that was noted in the following post:

http://www.serverelements.com/phpBB2/vi ... php?t=1006

The next release of NASLite-2 (v2.01) will correct that.

you can download http://www.knoppix.org and run a e2fsck on each drive, this should fix it. I had this problem a few weeks back. once Naslite has squashed that bug it can be done though naslite.

Gaiden:

I never used Knoppix before but I assume this is what I need to do:
1. d/l and install Knopix in a different PC. (I have a spare PC, with no OS, that I can used for this)
2. Plug in the corrupted HDs to the system and run e2fsck on them.
3. Once done, plug them back to the Naslite V2 system and they should mount them automatically.

Can you confirm if these are the steps? I never used Linux in my life :(

Nearly there!
Download the CD version of Knoppix
ftp://ftp.mirrorservice.org/sites/ftp.u ... -23-EN.iso
Burn to a CD disk at once method.
Boot knoppix on the server provided it has a CDrom drive if not use your spare with the other drives plugged in.
then run the command e2fsck /dev/hda

hda being the first disk etc

I have a similar problem I thinkk. When I first installed v2 all four drives came up. Then I had intermittant problems with the nas box becoming unavailable for no apparent reason and all connections to it were lost. I had to restart naslite telnet. Now my fourth drive wont mount. I can check the file system and it all looks ok but I cant repair it etc . I can even see in the syslog that the hdd has been detected just like all the others.

Am I to understand that v2.01 will allow me to repair the hdd and mount it? If so, when might we see the new version?

I guess also that if I had my config files saved for v1.5 and a usb disk with the os for 1.5 on it I could just boot up in 1.5 and repair the disk couldnt I?

I was very happy this afternoon when got the email that V2.01 is available.

Went home, d/l the ISO and upgrade to V2.01.

The drives still failed to mount. I run the option 5: check and fix... it start run the hd checking for a while and later the screen went blank, keyboard stop responding and the whole system hang.

Any more idea guys?
