Does the RAID support in v2.0 have any notification features? If one drive fails is that reported in any way? How would you know if the array had problems if the NAS was tucked away in a remote location?

I'm moving ahead with the server, but I couldn't find any answers to these questions. Thx!

Hardware RAID cards have optimized card-specific firmware. As such, hardware RAID tends to be very diligent in monitoring the drives and their state. In addition, hardware RAID cards have on-board alarms that are designed specifically for the purpose. If you have a drive failure, that card will likely be screaming louder than you’d care to listen. At that point, you can refer to the syslog for some clues before corrective action.
