I would say there's a very good chance you'll see this coming down the pipe

Anyone have an AppleTV?

I'm heavily refurbishing my house and expanding the NAS. There will be up to 5 AppleTV shortly, pratically one for ever TV except in the kids room. Probably I will buy the first one for testing in US by the end of the month. If the test goes fine, the "system" will go live by june of this year.

Are there any details of the (potential) implementation of the iTunes server?

Might it be stand-alone or integrated into NASLite-2(.5?)

Any guess at an ETA?

Inquiring minds (who have *absolutely* *no* patience and want a reason to buy an AppleTV that will get past the domestic financial controller - you know who she is, you've probably got one too!) would really like to know!

I'm strongly advising to buy AppleTV, if NasLite will support it for streaming, or better for synchronizing, will be fine.

As today I'm using that with a PC running iTunes connected to NasLite and works as a charme.

Excellent video quality, very easy to set up, easy to use.

I'm not interested in iTunes at all, but I am interested in fast auxiliary storage for a DVR box.

I am extremely interested in this idea, but I do wonder how it will work...

At the moment I have a PC sat in the corner with iTunes running on it, but to add media I have to use iTunes, drag the media into it (possibly encoding it on the way in), edit any tags and such and set up playlists, etc.

It does sound rather a complicated addition.

I would much prefer to see support for software RAID ;)

How about UPnP Media Server capability?

Maybe this is a bad idea - I have no experience with it - but I see that there are a lot things using it.

I second this request. I have no specific application for an iTunes server, but I would do backflips to have the ability for both of my 2TB Naslite servers to become media server extenders.

Currently, I need to boot up a Windows machine (XP/Vista) in order to "piggy back" the Naslite servers via mapped drives.

It wouldn't be that hard to do. Programs like TVersity do a MUCH better job at this than even M$ products (go figure).

I'm speaking out of turn here, but what does it mean when you say It wouldn't be that hard to do? TVersity is windows program and will not run on Naslite. :?

While TVersity itself runs on Windows only, AND converts formats on the fly, there are several linux apps like Twonkyvision that conform to the UPnP A/V standard. Twonky in particular uses no GUI interface, simply advertises UPnP, and streams via HTTP.
