OK that's good news.

Did you use the NASLite-2 USB Flash Utility CD-ROM to install?

I guess there's no point for me going out and buying just any new CF reader I can find, it is very likely that it won't work - Grumpa said he tried 4 different ones and none of them worked!

So, could you please post the exact name and model of the card reader(s) that worked for you and I'll try to find the exact same one(s). Again, I assume that when you said it worked, you referred to the NL2 install procedure.

The CF/IDE adapter method is a very attractive booting solution, I think we should try to detect whatever pitfalls it may have (and perhaps make a short list of compatible/working hardware?) - not for just our own sake but to prevent future users having to pull their hair off...

Hi Andy72,

I have used USB Flash util from V2 up till v2.02 and all was well just booted up the CD it found the device and no error messages.

I need to open up my NAS as my Card reader is sitting the the floppy area. As soon as i have the details i'll post them to the board. The Reader I have was only a cheap version purchased 2 years ago.

Not a lot of people are using the USB CF card boot method so it could be that the non working hardware is now starting to show up as more users try this method, maybe just a single CF reader might be the solution?

can i bump this - am having similar problems - have started another thread - apologies - should have been in here

am now further puzzled as i had an old sd card - so for no other reason than stupidity i put it in the card adaptor that would not program to the cf card

worked perfectly - wondering if it is a voltage problem - the cf card needing more power

does not help???? - just confuses me :?

sorted out my problem

some info in here may help others
