What's the best/fastest way to copy from one NAS disk to another?
I have them mapped to XP PC but looking at the router, when I copy from one mapped drive to another, there is a lot of network traffic generated. How can I do it and keep it 'in the NAS box'?

You could use a live CD to do the inital copy of large amounts of data.

then you could use a script or a tool to sync the drives.

Without shutting down the NASLite server and booting up the machine with some other OS cdrom, there is no way to copy directly from one NASLite drive to another. The data goes from the first NASLite drive through the network to your PC, and then back down the network to the other NASLite drive.

This works pretty much the same way on any network server, except that, if you have physical access to the computer and admin rights, you can do internal copies from the console.

If you use the \\nas-box\SHARES\ paths, the files will not come over the network, but copy internally.
