 Post subject: Failed to mount drive

Hi

I have just added an INtel SRCS16 controller to my machine with 4 x 320Gb drives installed. I have created the raid 5 set and initialised the drives. Naslite recognises the logical drive and I have formated it, when the system completed formating it has the message. drive format complete, drive will appear at next reboot. I rebooted the system but no drive appeared. I get the message "not mounted" as listed below

I don't think Scoobs is affected by that issue. His array 4x320 should come to a logical drive of under 960Gb which by definition does not fall into the over 1TB category. Unless off course the limit is not 1TB but measured in kb.

Scoobs, are you getting any error when trying to format or does the format complete succesfully?

If you are getting an error then you could use the Slackware method to create the partition and the all will be well.

Also, are your licence and unlock codes entered?

Take a look at this:
Code:
1 - Export Disk-0 [ -- ] (RW, RO, --)
2 - Set Disk-0 Capacity Alarm [ -- ] (75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 99, --)
* - Set Disk-0 S.M.A.R.T. [ -- ] (ON, --)


Option 1 indicates the drive is parked and will not be mounted. Change that to RW or RO as necessary and reboot.

Hi Guys

My Naslite system is now up and running :D . Unfortunately I could not get the raid set formated using the Naslite software :cry: seems to be some sort of problem with large partitions not only stuff greater than 1Gb (mine is 879.0Gb according to Naslite)

To get the partition to be recognised , I booted up with my Ubuntu install disk, partitioned and formatted the raid set (recognised my Intel raid controller straight away) and then rebooted with Naslite. The formatted partition was recognised with no further changes required :D

The actual failure threshold of the old partitioning bins is not known, so your partition size may well be outside the previous max. That portion of the management code has been reworked in v2.02 due out soon.
