I just purchased a SYBA SD-SATA2-4IR PCI SATA II Controller Card for my Asus P4P800-E Board. I have replaced all my old PATA Drives for 4 New 1TB WD drives, and needed a Sata II controller card. During the boot up probing NasLite only finds the new sata card once in 5 tries. I do not use RAID, and this is one of very few cards that is SATA II that works with an older motherboard with only PCI slots. What are my choices?

Thank you for your help,

Bob

why sata2 - i believe on paper it is faster but in practice is it?

check the hardware list - on a quick look the card you bought is not supported

i use a promise card - its rock solid - they do them with 2 sata ports or 4 - usually there are some on ebay - they are also marketed as maxtor

Thanks for your reply. The computer I have this server installed in is a real kludge with 7 drives an optical, and video board, noisey, and large. I have decided to scrap the whole thing and go with a Synology DS409 Diskless System Disk Station 4-bay SATA NAS Server. It is small, quite, and doesn't need a monitor, and is not a kludge.
