hi

I've been running naslite for a few years now.... but the psu died in my old system so i built a new one (from old parts) and decided to upgrade at the same time....

bought 2 tb drives (one of which was DOA) and a gigabyte nic for it...

now, when I'm copying files onto it via ftp my speeds jump around.... I'll have a good steady 40 to 43 MB/sec.... and then I get between 2 and 5 MB/sec.... for no apparent reason...

(copying from 5 sata2 disks in raid 0, so nice and fast source!)

actually... right now as I'm trping this it's running at 30MB/sec....

the speed doesen't jump around a lot, it'll run at a steady 40meg a sec for 5 min, then jump to 7meg a sec for 5 min then back to 40 again....

can anyone point me to some good programs i could use to test the drives in my machine, and the network drives ?
(running xp on my mahcine)

I have other machines here i can run test's from too.

(google is throuwing up too much spyware etc.. for me to trust anything it sugests!)

Try moving files without virus scanner on and see if it makes a difference.
