SATA 500GB Drive Problem

1 x Silicon SATA Controller
1 x 40GB IDE HDD
1 x 250GB IDE HDD
2x Samsung 500GB SATA HDD

I have a Silicon SATA Controller Card which until recently had 2 x SATA 80GB HDD’s working without problem. I upgraded one of the 80GB to a 500GB, again no problem. I have now upgraded the second 80GB to 500GB but NAS will not recognise it.

There is no problem with the two IDE drives

Any help in resolving this would be appreciated

Chay

Do you see the drive in bios?

Hi,

The IDE drives are seen in the BIOS. However the SATA Controller/SATA drives are not. I don't think the BIOS has a facility to display the drives.

It seems to be my only response to this type of thing, but is it possibly PSU related?

i.e. if you have one 500GB drive attached, can you see the 500GB drive in NASLite?

if you swap which 500GB drive is attached, can you still see the 500GB drive?

If you disconnect power from your IDE drives and connect both 500GB drives, can you see both of the 500GB drives in NASLite?

Have you changed the SATA cables?

When one 500GB drive is attached I can see it and when I swap it for the second one I can see it too.

I have upgraded the power supply from 350 to 450, still not working.

I now suspect the PCI SATA card.

Any advice would be appreciated
