Hi I have been given a supermicro sata 8-port controller

will this work with naslite??

It should work as a controller since it appears to be built on a standard chip but since it is software RAID you will not be able to use the RAID functionality.

well it doesn't...it isn't even recognised...the chipset is Marvell 88SX5081...is it supported??

While running some tests with the latest verions v2.06, I can confirm that both Supermicro SATA-MV8 and SAT2-MV8 8-port SATA controllers are NOT compatible yet (!?!?!) with the NASLite. NASLite does not recognise them at all.

These controllers use the Marvell 88SX5081 (SATA-MV8) and 88SX6081 (SAT2-MV8) chipset, a common and wellknown chipset for it's performance I/O throughtput, used at most of the famous controllers in the Market.
LSI Logic MegaRAID SATA300-8X for example, uses the 88SX6081 and is supported according to the pdf HCL documentation.

Just in case the NASLite developer team (or any other developer) needs it, I can supply the Marvell driver core & compiled files for both controllers (as it is the same driver), but I will need further versions and revisions of the NASLite for beta testing...
