At this moment I'm using FreeNAS as my NAS solution. I'm running it on a old PII and the BIOS of the motherboard doesn't support drives larger than 137GB. For FreeNAS this is not a problem, I configured the BIOS not to detect the my 250GB drive and it's working. Only problem is that it's not stable enough.

Therefore I'm considering purchasing naslite but I want to keep using the old PC and the large drive. Now I would like to know if naslite can also handle larger drives even when the motherboard cannot?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

Regards,

MegaByteNL

I'm using 3 x 160 gb drives on an old AMD mb that has'nt got a clue what they are when detected by the bios. No problem NAS-2 HDD knows what they are. :)

from the manual:
(quote)
NASLite-2 is designed to operate on commodity x86
computers. It is also well suited for re-using older
PCs that are still operational but are too limited or
slow for use as desktop computers. In addition,
NASLite-2 enables older computers with BIOS
limitations to use contemporary, large-capacity IDE
fixed disk drives without the need for additional
hardware.

It will do just fine

Just buy it you will be happy.

I have used the product for over a year as a storage back up for a commerical recording studio. Runs perfect no issues.
