I can connect to my NASLite server from the Mac. I think it is because there are no user credentials on the NASLite side. I think that there is a command line fix for the Mac to fix this but cannot find it documents anywhere. A pointer would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried "Connect to Server" from finder? I use nfs on NASLite
Server Address:
nfs://192.xxx.x.xxx/export/Disk-0

I can't remember what the line that needs to be added to a file is but once you do that the Mac connects just fine to a samba share just fine. A bit of searching should find the answer for you.
