hi,
can you give any idea how to avoid the disk check after a normal reboot from the telnet console.
the server was running without any activities, I decided to reboot in order to configure another disk.
And now is checking a terabyte usb disk...

thanks.

The disks are checked automatically with the reboot after 180 days of use or after every x reboots (x varies between 20 - 35). You can put a very high number for x (using a distro CD of Ubuntu or similar) but this will diminish data security.

I don't think that you can change the 180 days check.

The 180 days can also be changed with the same "tune2fs" command. But like robrub says ... you're reducing data security (safety). It is indeed a pain when you're trying to get something else done and don't expect it ... but you should keep it turned on. You could set the #mounts (-c option) to zero and rely on the #days (-i option). This way you have some control in terms of calendar time, so long as you remember to reboot at the proper time (2x per year, like summer/winter solistice to "clear out the cobwebs"); otherwise you'll be just as "surprised" or inconvenienced the next time around.
