Prior to starting this notation please be aware it is not a complaint as some may take it!

I have been randomly receiving HDD errors on my M2X64 box which has two Seagate 1.5TB HDDs
with Disk-1 mirroring Disk-0. When I take the server down and run tests on the HDDs with
Seagate s/w tools nothing shows up and yes I know ext2, ext3 and ext4 have to be reformated
at least that is what Seagate says.

Well I thought maybe it is the releases of the packages on the M2X64 V.166 so I went and checked
what was on the NAS and the stable release currently offered by each Open Source package and
here is what I found: (see attachment)

Is there any chance that the lack of updates to these packages and perhaps others that could effect the
results of realtime monitoring and tests results? The e2fsprogs for example is 23 releases behind if I count
correctly.

Tony and Ralph, my questions are only that questions and I am seeking your expertise in this matter.

Thank You Kindly

Hello retired,

The versions of the software used in NASLite is of no significance since it is a user-space process. The errors you are likely seeing are generated by the kernel-level driver. With that in mind it will be helpful if we know what the errors are, so when you get a chance, please post a syslog snippet of the errors.

Thanks
