Hi,

I took the plunge and purchased NASLite-M2 for a long over due upgrade from NASLite+ 1.4!

I received my email with the download, and made a bootable NASLite-M2 CD-ROM. I have run into an issue with the install. Once Naslite gets to the installation screen (or if I choose to let it boot from the CD-ROM which it can do) once I get to the login stage where I need to type in "admin" for the username and "password" for the password my keyboard no longer responds.

Everything was working fine with NASLite 1.4, and I have not had one issue. The keyboard is a USB Apple full size keyboard with the numeric keypad (purchased in 2011).

I found a similar post (third last post) for NASLite 2, and tried everything mentioned, but just like the thread starter, I can not get the keyboard working at any log in screen :(

Any ideas?

Motherboard: ASUS CUV4X (single socket 370)
CPU: PIII 600 MHz
RAM: 288 MB of RAM
HD: WD 500 GB x 2
WD 120 GB x 1

No changes have been made other than booting from the NASLite-M2 CD-ROM. If I pop the NASLite 1.4 CD-ROM in, everything boots fine, and the keyboard works.

Thank you.

seems not all usb keyboards are equal - some work some give the error you have seen - i just plug a keyboard into the ps2 connector for the few times i need to access the setup via the naslite box

Hi tony_a,

Thank you for the reply. I feel foolish as I took my old PS/2 keyboard to the computer recycler two weeks ago... oh well, perhaps I can find a cheap second hand one on CL.

Thank you :)

Just a follow up :)

I purchased a USB to PS/2 adapter but that did not work.

In the end a friend lent me an old PS/2 Dell keyboard and that worked like a charm!

It will only work if the KB is a combo unit with the capability to drop back to PS2, kind of like allot of mice will do. If the adapter was green then it is a mouse adapter and uses a different set pins on the PS2 connector for its data.

Hi Mike,

I made sure it was the purple adapter (keyboard specific). I think it was the Apple USB Keyboard (the newest one with the numeric keypad on it, and 2 usb ports).

Anyways, just wanted to make sure I followed up :)

Yah, apple KBs were never compatible with PS2 in any way.
