Is NASLite-M2 x64 v.1.66 compatible with the new USB 3.0 Standard ??

This question is because I would like to install one PCI-E USB 3.0 internal Card and two USB 3.0 external units as fast Mirror units on my existing NAS.

What kind of USB 3.0 chipset would be supported ??

Can anyone help me ??

Best regards - Migi.

Hi Migi

I don't know the answer but I'll answer the question ;) Well, not exactly.

My question is : Do you need USB3 card and drives for mirror ? The answer is NO in most cases. With USB2, the FIRST mirror will take time but the following mirrors will be very short and fast (unless you change or add huge quantity of files everyday).

Save the money and buy a bigger USB2 drive.

Now, if you want to use these USB3 drives as "data server" drives, than it may be interesting to have USB3. But, in this case also, an internal drive may be faster ;)

Why not look at ESATA instead should definatly work ok and there are several cards out there that will do multiple esata ports and that should run at the same sort of speed as your internal drives.

Just a thought (you might like to check the hardware compatability charts)

Doug.
