Anyone tried to use HP Proliant MicroServer as NasLite-M2 Server ??
It has a four-disk bay, it's very small ... relatively cheap ... could really be a good server.
If (tried and) yes can you tell me if it's well working ??

Regards - Migi

Migi can't help with how they work cos havn't tried one but looking at the specs

I would be very worried about the PSU (150W) being able to power the server plus 4 drives as well.

I would bet that it wouldnt be easy to upgrade the PSU either.

Just my thought's

My specs doc reports 200W (maybe Italian version) and if you use low-power HDDs (as only slim 3,5" can fit the internal four bays enclosure) could be enough ...

Anyone can help me ??

AMD -->> Athlon Neo processor - RS785E NorthBridge Ctrl. - SB820M SoutBridge Ctrl. - Broadcom BCM5723 Gigabit Ctrl. - Linux (??) support ...

Succesfully tried with NASLite-M2 (2 GB Ram + 2x 2TB WD drives in Raid 1 configuration) and with Win 2008 Server (4 GB Ram + 2x WD 500GB HDDs + 2x WD 1TB HDDs) ... no problem at all !!
Exceptional price/performance level !!

Good to know.

And since the PS is between 150 and 200 Watts you have no worries about having enough power to run the system. Since the processor is a basic 15Watt Athlon there is more than enough headroom to power even four power hungry drives. Even if the drives eat 15 Watts each that is only 60 Watts total for four drives. Add in 15 Watts for the processor and you are still at only half of the rated PS output assuming a 150 Watt rating.

Yes, you're absolutely right !!!
The units I described are still running their OSes perfectly & silently for (from ??) a lot of months ...
If you need a powerful NASLite NAS (RAID or not) or a light Linux or Windows Server, this is the choiche for everyone !!
And if you want more protection there are FIVE years CarePacks from HP for few Dollars ...
