NASLite Network Attached Storage

Need a little help from you guys familiar with RAID. I am using the Adaptec 2610SA RAID card and had a RAID5 working well. I pulled the drives and replaced with 2, 1.5TB drives that i want to set up as RAID-1. I run the adaptec setup and the drives are seen but it will not let me make a new array so I went into format disk, thinking i must do this first. The first drive is formatting but it looks like it is going to take all night just to do one drive. Is this normal? At this rate is going to take me two days just to get the drives formatted. then hopefully it will let me create the array. Does this sound correct? I thought NASLite did the formatting?

Allot of drive controllers have format utilities built in and they can be use to do a basic format. You will still have to let windows format the array after it has been built. What does Adapec's manual say about the process of building an array with the controller?

From what I can tell that card does not support drives over 1TB. Damn. Anyone using the 2610SA? What size drives?

Try to flash the firmware with the newest update. Otherwise, new card I would guess.

Just a follow that may help others. After searching the net this card (Adaptec 2610SA made for Dell servers as a Dell CERC 1.5/6ch) will never support drives greater than 1TB or arrays greater than 2TB. I put some 700GB drives in and it works fine.
