I just built a NAS box using the D510MO, 2GB PC6400, 3Ware 9500s-8, 4 2TB Hitachi HDD's in a 5 bay SCSI tower booting M2 off of USB flash. Everything works. The reads are in the low 50MB range and the writes in the low 60's. I don't know how much this helps as the boards don't have identical hardware, but I'd say it's worth a shot.

FWIW, these speeds are when I copy to and from my single drive Q9400 based PC. The speeds between my NAS box and my XP Pro 64bit, Q6600, 9500s-12 equipped media server start out fast but drop to around 20MB within 20 seconds or so. I don't know why but it's been the same story with both of the other mini-itx boards I've tried. I almost forgot all 3 machines are using onboard GbE and run thru a 16 port Netgear Gb switch.

Good luck,
Jack

Thank you very much for your answer, Jack.

I just take a look at the difference between those two MiniITX board : the Chipset is the same Intel NM10 and the difference is in the CPUs, because D510 is a Dual Core and D410 a Single Core.

You told me that you boot NasLite-M2 from USB : so you can confirm me that this board can boot from USB Flash Drive.
How many Gb large is your USB stick ??

Excuse me for my poor english.

Regards - Michele.

if you are booting from usb you dont need gigs of space - 64meg will be enough - these days they are hard to find so anything from there up will do - the rest will be wasted

I'm booting from a 2GB PNY flash drive with no problems at all.
