Is there any way to get at the logs other than through the web interface? I'm having intermittent problems with the network going down but can't get to the logs to see what might be the issue since the network draps out and I can't find a way to get to them via the Admin tool.

Thanks

Lance

Try a monitor and keyboard on the box and log in that way.

Unfortunately the logs are not accessible via the admin interface. The are in RAM, although -- **IF** you can get across the network -- they are also visible via the \\<ip>\Status\htm folder (in Windows Explorer, for example). But if you can't get to the NL server from another system, you're out-of-luck. The admin interface could help you with some debugging via the "Tools and Utilities" sub-menu.

I have the monitor and keyboard hooked up.

What can I find out by using the "Tools & Utilities" sub-menu?\

I'm thinking about finding another card other than this intel card as maybe it's the culprit in this whole thing. I'll need to look through the hardware guide to find one that I can find locally here that also gives me gigabit capabilities.

The "Tools" sub-menu has limited capability, nothing like what the logs could provide you for debugging, but at least you can ping out of the NAS and sample some traffic.

Mike has written an excellent general do/don't guide regarding networking; check that out too before simply switching NICs and eliminate possible other sources of the problem: Network_Do/Donts

Yeah when I try to ping anywhere on my network it's totally dead.

I'll check out Mike's Do/Don't doc. Thanks.
