I was about to start transferring data from my test server back onto my main server [M2 v1.61] when I got this fatal error:
Code:
Panic: Double Fault GDT at C031E000 [255 bytes]
Double Fault TSS at C0300680
EIP C027BA92 ESP F5E00000
EAX 79D30000 EBX 00000000
ECX 00000089 EDX 00000000
ESI 0000C600 EDI 0242C940

I had to hard shutdown the machine and after a reboot it satisfactorily checked the array.

Getting a Double Fault on your serve[r] means you need to spend more time practicing your tennis skills

Sorry ... could not resist ! Have no idea what it means ... but made for a good laugh!

That's the equivalent of a GPF in Windows. Usually caused by unstable hardware - Bad connectors, bad power supply, IRQ, DMA, RAM, etc. problems. I'd start with a complete memtest and a BIOS reset. Like I said before, turn PnP and ACPI off in the BIOS and see if things improve.

I assume this was your test server that crashed and not your production machine. If so, is that the same server that was experiencing slow transfers? My guess is that the hardware needs some work.

This unit has the guts of my previous production server (I changed motherboards in an attempt to get Core3 to give me pre-Core3 throughput from my Adaptec 21610SA). It has not repeated the fault.

That's good. I'd still pound on it hard for the next few days and make sure it's stable.
