Hi!

I got this routerboard, its a VIA C3 400MHZ with four Intel 82559ER NICs and a 256MB sdram.

It got a free PCI slot, where I will put a SATA controllercard. Either Sil3114 or a VIA6421A, and hook up a WDC 1.5TB hdd to it.
It boots from a CF-slot in IDE channel1.

No vga output and no keyboard, only a com-port.

Tested it with freenas, but since it only perform around 5.5MB/sek it´s not an option.

So, will NASLite M2 run on this, can i install it without graphiccard and keyboard. Will it get at least 10MB/sek?

First off that is a router board. Second, you only have one PCI slot and no display controller or SATA ports. You will have a hell of a time setting up the machine, I can see a way of doing it but it will be long and complicated. To be frank you can just go to you local corner computer store and get an older board with memory and processor for CHEEP! $5.00 to $10.00 if you haggle. You are just in over your head before you've begun. Load Smoothwall on the board and set yourself up a great firewall and get another board for the NASLite load.

Thanks for your answers guys.

The only reason i want to use it as a NAS is because its lowpower and its silent.
But i was afraid that no display would be a problem.

Guess a just have to get something else to run it on.

There are allot of options that will not kill you on the power. You can even take a faster PIII or PIV and under clock them to reduce power usage. After the initial configuration you can remove the video card as well to save a bit more power.
