NASLite Network Attached Storage

This topic is discussed a lot at AVS forum and I always recommend NASLite but it seems many people prefer other solutions like UnRAID. NASLite does not get much mention and quickly gets dismissed when it is mentioned. I always wondered about these other solutions and wanted to see what you guys think and how they compare to NASLite.
I have never looked at the other solutions since my NASLite setup has been running without probs. I never touch it.

I read a bit about UnRAID at their site. I can't say that I like what I read. First off they use the RiserFS. In the past I have tried it and found it's performance to be no better than EXT2/3.

Second I don't like the "RAID" implementation that they use. Really funky hybrid from the sound of it. Give me a good old hardware RAID card and one of the higher level RAIDs, IE; 5, 6, 50, or 60. There is allot of configurabillity in their software but this also brings a host of other problems that I don't wish my data to have to deal with.

I may try it at a later date to see how it stacks up but we are in all fairness talking about niche market products here. They generally end up with a small group of dedicated trumpeters with myopic views of the products they currently use and refusal to consider the merits of other products.
