Doing a bit of research on line it would appear that the units you use for streaming, HDX900, have issues with some SMB servers out of the box. This may or may not be fixed in Firmware updates in the future. Also, since the units run Linux it should be easily fixed with a bit of hacking should you be interested in trying NL at a later date. All of this doesn't matter to you since you are using another OS for your NAS needs.

The box does look like a nice unit though the HDMI 1.3 block on Bluray content out the port sucks. It would appear that it is based in the chipset used to present the hardware port interface and if so there is likely no fix for this. DAMN DO I HATE DRM!

Good luck,

Mike

The hdx900 can use both nfs and upnp shares, so there are plenty of options.
