I am not sure I fully understand the information in the NASLite-M2 manual on how to create a raid 5. Can someone explain this please? I do not seem to be having success after attempting to follow the Manual. Not getting the mirror file/folder in the root drive.
Thanks a bunch

You cannot create a RAID array within NASLite. You will have to buy a supported hardware RAID card, attach your drives to it and create the RAID array using its interactive menus. That array can then be formatted and mounted using NASLite.

Be aware that only those hardware RAID cards listed in the relevant section of the Hardware Reference guide are supported.

Thank you for the reply - However i have a silicon image inc. sata controller driver that is capable of raid 5. I had previously set this up before installing naslite M2. I thought it would show one drive but its showing me 3 drives.
Suggestions are welcome.

Thanks

Unless the card has a processor and memory on it it is NOT RAID5 in NASLite or M2. The silicon image chip set based cards are only RAID with the windows drivers and use the processor to give RAID functionality.

What card and what are the chips on it, that will tell really fast.

Yah, that is just a PCI to SATA controller and nothing more. No RAID to be had there. There are cards that will use that chip or chips for the front end and interface to a RAID engine.

Look at the 3Ware cards, they are pretty good and fairly cheap on Ebay.
