I use Hamachi on all my home boxes ( Windows-Linux-WHS ) for remote access to my files and find it Just Works and works well.
I have 1 older naslite box but would like to upgrade it to m2 with Hamachi.
How can I get Hamachi installed on m2?
Note: I get around in Linux but am not real proficient.

You don't.

That is not what NL is about. It is designed to be very stable and fast network file server and that is it. Adding in apps beyond the scope of the above will likely result in one or both of them being lessened. If you feel the need to export your files via a VPN you are far better off using a firewall with VPN functionality built in like Smoothwall or Gibraltar, both of which use standards based VPN utilities.

Hamachi is good. It makes like a easy VPN so though the Internet it's like your LAN.

But this can be bad too. My sisters kid got a virus and he and I was using Hamachi. So it went to me too. I was running Hamachi on a Ubuntu server. So it went on Linux but put it self at the end of a lot of index.html files. I got it fixed but just wanted to let people know that bad that can happen shereing folders out with Hamachi.

Hence my original recommendation that you use something like Smoothwalls built in VPN. Smoothwall also has a virus scanner built in, not the best but it should help to catch some of that stuff.

On another note, it is one thing when you use a VPN for your own access out in the wild, you know what the security of the end points of the connections are. When you start to connect to other networks which you have no control over then you are as good as wide open to every hacker on the internet. Also keep in mind that you may have your portal to the internet locked down and secured but on the other side if they get through the security there, they are in you from the backside! In more ways than one maybe.

I would be willing to bet good money that you will never see a VPN server in NASLite.
