Try this:
1. Disable DAAP and UPnP in the admin interface, save and reboot.
2. After reboot make sure DAAP and UPnP are disabled.
3. Select a drive from your storage drives that is normally mounted as RW and that has enough room to hold swap, playlist and media database. That can vary greatly based on your content, but you should assume no less than 100M.
4. Configure the necessary options including your primary swap drive, enable DAAP and UPnP, save and reboot.
5. After reboot verify that all settings are correct and that DAAP is running.
Keep an eye on the available room on the drive as the services are indexing the media. If you run out of room, then the service may in fact die due to lack of storage resources.
If that does not help, then the problem may be caused by a bad file. If so, then you may have to locate the offender and email us a copy for testing.
