Found a way around this problem on my Windows XP SP3 machine.

1. Right click the file or folder which refuses to delete and select Properties
2. In the General tab, set the Read Only and Archive attributes to 'ticked' and hit Apply
3. Click OK to apply the changes to the folder and it's subfolders and files
4. With the Properties box still open, delete the file (or folder)
5. Once deleted, click OK or Cancel to close the Properties box

NOTE: All the files I've had this problem with have had a 'square' symbol in the Read Only attribute box by default. By changing this and the Archive attribute to 'ticked' as above, I've been able to delete every one. I've only had this problem since installing NanoNAS the other day and haven't come across it in any other version of NL.

I've got no idea what causes this issue or why the method described above seems to work but I'd be interested to know if this works for anyone else who's having the same problem.

Thank you i spent two hours trying to figure out this mess just today, and several weeks looking for information about it... I was mad as XXXXX but anyway, thank you. Your simple method of ticking the read-only box to remove the default filled in square and changing it to a tic mark along with archive actually fixed the issue perfectly. I clicked ok it went through and reset all permissions then i could delete it from windows 7 with no problems whatsoever. so apparently it is a bit being set in the file attributes by windows 7 and vista that is not allowing the file deletion... perhaps a job could be run on the nanonas server as a service that looks for this every hour in files and removes it ? I did notice as you mention above that after clicking apply i needed to leave the file permissions window open, while deleting the folder, or it wouldn't work... strange medicine but works a charm.
