Hi all.
:)

Got my NanoNAS server up and running for the first "Official" time today, and it looks very cute via HTTP...

Anyhoo, the first hard-disk in there is a 500GB Seagate, and I was able to format it using the admin utility.

However, I can't find any info either in the NanoNAS manual, or via the HTTP when logged onto the system, as to which Linux filesystem NanoNAS uses - ext2 or ext3.

I am ASSUMING that it is ext3, but if someone could please confirm, that would be great. There is an option in the admin utility to add a journal to the filesystem, but if NanoNAS formats disks in ext3 by default(my real question), then I don't need to do this, but if NanoNAS formats disks in ext2, then I should apply the journal...

Hope I am making some sort of sense!!!
:P

Naslite and nanonas both format ext2 by default. Applying the journal converts the disk to ext3. You can apply the journal at any time even if you have files on the drive.

What are the advantages of applying the journal to turn ext2 to ext3?
Should I just leave the filesystem as it is - ext2???
