Hy,

I think if there are several announcements, that V2 will come I wonder how I can SECURILY upgrade from V1 to V2. If you can see unter http://www.terabyteserver.de.ms (sorry, only german) I have 1TB of Data. If I slip out the Naslite V1 Disk and put In a V2 Disk will this boot normaly and know all Disks or will I lost data (so have a backup)?

All of the disks that you currently have in your server will be accessed by NASLite-2 without a problem since NASLite-2 supports ext2 as well as ext3 filesystems. It will also give you the option of applying a journal to an existing NASLite ext2 filesystem, converting it to the journalled ext3.

However, there will not be a floppy version of NASLite-2. As of this time, there are 3 versions of NASLite-2 planned, based on method of deployment and associated hardware as follows:
NASLite-2 USB - Intended to boot from and configure to a USB Flash device.
NASLite-2 CDD - Intended to boot from a CD-ROM and configure to a floppy disk.
NASLite-2 HDD - Intended to boot from and configure to a hard disk or IDE Flash device.

We have no plans for a floppy disk version of NASLite-2.

Tony,

I've been gone from the forum for a while, any
date on the release of the HD vers 2? I would
think soon since the USB v2 is out.

First, NASLite-2 USB will be upgraded to v2.01 in order to take care of some minor items that were missed during beta. That will occur in the next couple of weeks or so.

After that, NASLite-2 CDD will be released, incorporating the upgrades from the USB version. That will probably happen a week or two after USB v 2.01 is out.

The NASLite-2 HDD product will follow the CDD version, but I have no date to offer at this time. Soon is the best I can do ;-)
