Great... at last I have Naslite working on a spare computer, and I intend to have it as a storage backup for a couple of comps here at home.

Question... It only has one 20GB HD in it at the moment, but I want to add at least another larger HD (80 or 120GB) will I need to do the setup again as the procedure for the initial configuration?

I don't want to loose the stuff thats already on this 1st HD.

Is adding the 2nd HD is just a matter of switching off, installing it, reusing the CD and floppy to configure the 2nd HD... and away I go again?

Thanks

yes, installing the 2nd hdd is very simple
simply install the 2nd HDD and boot, the NASlite software will do the rest.
it will format the HDD to be used under the NASlite configuration, it will then mount it and it will be avaiable online upon the next reboot. :D

How do I keep track of what space is still available on my Naslite HD's? From win XP it will give me folder sizes, but not how much space has been used up on the drive?

To keep track of the HD space remaining etc all you need to do is open Internet Explorer and enter this

you will need to use your IP for the Nas, the above is a example from my machine.

The system page will give you lots of info, like UPTIME, CPU, MEMORY, DISKS, and NETWORKINTERFACE.

Also notice there are other pages u can refer to at the top of the page.

if your just interested in viewing how much space is left on your HDDs and want simple easy acces to them, you can map the drives. This allows for the netwrok drives to show up in the "My Computer" folder, just like the internal drives on your pc.

to map the disks on your server simply to to start>Run> and type in the default ip address of you server, it is normally \\192.168.1.1
after you hit enter the folder with all the disks you have connected show up.
From here you simply right click on the disks you want to map onto your pc and click on "Map drive".

if you have any more questions, please feel free to ask!
