Since I am caught by that Microsoft Samba 'fix' that broke my NAS connectivity, I am thinking of booting with a NASLITE-FTP diskette so at least I can still Upload and Download files to the NAS even if I can't use Windows explorer to do it.

My question is whether booting from a NASLITE-FTP floppy will still recognize my NASLITE-SMB drives?

I plan to purchase NANONAS to replace NASLITE as soon as they patch it to overcome the SAMBA issue, but I havent heard any timelines.

Thanks in advance!

short answer - no idea - but try it - nothing gets written to your data discs - so if it works fine - if not nothing lost and you will have answered your own questions

Thanks!! I was just concerned that it MIGHT want to somehow re-format or otherwise modify the disk structure for the FTP server vs. SMB. I didn't THINK so, but I had to check.

NOW if I can only FIND that diskette

OK.. FINALLY got around to trying this courtesy of a power failure, since I had to restart anyway :D

Works fine! Even still have Windows Explorer Drag and Drop capability by accessing the ftp server from Windows Explorer.
