I think it is a bad boot floppy.

I experienced this error and the "RAMDISK: Couldn't find valid RAM disk image starting at 803" error experienced by Chibu in the thread "Instilation" while trying to create a boot floppy using RAWwrite from Windows XP.

I was able to download the image and create a valid boot disk using a Knoppix 3.3 bootable CD. I wasn't initially able to see the drive to configure it until I switched it from cable select to master - another post indicated that cable select is a problem.

Now I'm waiting for the "Checking for bad blocks" to finish - I started configuring the disk yesterday(!). I guess there is a reason why my Dell Dimension XPS Pro200n hasn't been in use for a few years....

I tried RAWwrite based on the NASLite - a review by Michael Horowitz article BLOCKED_WORD from the Server Elements Links and Media page. As discussed in the thread Suggest rawwrite warning on website, RAWwrite running under 32 bit Windows operating systems will not create a usable boot floppy.

Clearly, the most reliable approach for Windows users is to buy one of the CDs. Of course, when you decide to build a server over a holiday weekend....

Yep, as already stated a certain amount of times, the warning by the Authors seem not to "permeate" conscience of users....

Please read my posts, the one BLOCKED_WORD by jwr above and the main one:
