Hello all, I'm the proud user of Naslite+ V1x that runs on an old Dell P3 800MHz.

For a while now I've been having trouble connecting to my Nas box. The problem being that sometimes it connects on the first boot up and sometimes it won't. So I began doing everything I could think of in the way of troubleshooting. Besides reading through this great forum I've also switched out all cables and the NIC card and checked and rechecked all the configuration settings all to no avail.

So now for my question: based on the info from the "Server System Log" below, does this mean there's a problem with my floppy disk? (I'm referring to the "floppy0: data CRC error: track 1, head 0, sector 16, size 2" part.)

Code:
# Jun 19 17:58:12 naslite user.info klogd: Partition check:
# Jun 19 17:58:12 naslite user.info klogd: /dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0: p1

Thanks for any help.

Yep, looks like a bad floppy disk or drive. My advice is that you go ahead and purchase the 2.0x HDD version of the software and ditch the floppy for good.

Thank you Mike.

Since I already purchased NASLite+ for USB Flash when it first came out but never used it, I think I'll go in that direction. I've been wanting to use a different machine for my NAS box anyway. Thanks again.

I bought the USB version as well, they didn't have the HDD version out at the time. I couldn't get any of the machines I was willing to throw at it at the time to boot from the USB so I converted it to a CDROM image and booted it from there and then let it store the configuration to a USB key like normal. Worked like a charm! I didn't want the CDROM version since it stored the config to a floppy.

Good luck,

Mike
