I have tried multiple motherboards & 10/100 NICs to no avail (and yes, different cables, even tried a xover cable between the two machines). A lot of the time when copies files to the NL13 server I will get a windows mapped drive disconnected notice. I notice via task manager (xpsp2 fully updated, latest drivers for it as well) that I will rarely if ever get above 16% utilization, which is far slower than when I copy files to another windows machine on the same network. Also noted that sometimes even if a file does copy fully from the windows machine to naslite, for example a video file, it works fine on the windows machine but it says it is corrupted if running it from the naslite drive.

Current naslite setup
Asus intel based motherboard (latest bios, everything turned off except ata controller)
1gig ram (pc133) - memory tests fine memtest+
800mhz p3
intel 10/100
1 80gig maxtor - maxtor diags test fine, primary master
1 250gig WD - WD diags test fine, secondary master

At this point I am about to give up on naslite (not being able to do local file management & always having to move a file from disk1 to local workstation then to disk2 has always annoyed me, not to mention this constant thorn in the side issue).

Try with less RAM. The floppies are limited to about 700M or so, so anything over that can be unpredictable. 256M or 512M should be fine.
