I created a Linux NASLite-SMB (also tried FTP) bootdisk using Knoppix (3.3 and 3.7). The boot disk works fine in all computers but my older 667mhz Compaq. Other bootable floppies work in the Compaq, but not this one. I have switched out the floppy drive and cable and tried multiple other physical floppy disks to no avail.
Do some BIOSs just not read Linux boot devices? I updated the BIOS too, but still doesn't work. I turned off all other boot devices except the floppy drive, and you can see and hear it access the floppy, then it just says there is no Operating System detected...
It's like it looks at it, and is like "WTF is this Linux crap." To make the bootdisk, you need to format the disk using 1722 bytes. (fdformat /dev/fd0u1722) (dd if=NASLite.img of=/dev/fd0u1722)
You think that has something to do with it? Do some BIOSs not read disks over a certain size?
Anyone have any ideas?
