I finally got around to installing two Seagate 250 GB HDDs into what will be my first NASLite server. I have been following the instructions in the "Bitten by the NAS Bug" document.

I started to configure the first HDD, and it has been running for close to 24 hours and is still not complete! Is it worthwhile to check for bad blocks on a brand new hard drive?

Checking for bad blocks is the safe thing to do. If you have the time, then do it.
