When I copy old files over to store on the FTP server, the original time and date stamps are changed to date the files are copied to the ftp server.

Is there any easy way to preserve the original time and date stamp?

Thanks

Jtech

I am copying files over from Windows XP Pro and XP Home systems, with SP2 installed. The FTP server is an old P166. The hard drive detection has been disabled in the BIOS for the P166 server.

I have copied over to the FTP server using "Total Commander" file utility program. I also used "Simply Safe Backup" and the time and date stamp results were the same.

With the backup program I tried using the file compression, which stores the backup in their compressed format. Restoring that preserves the original time and date stamp. I assume the same would hold true for archiving utilities and perhaps some encryption methods.
